About Me

My photo
Richmond, Virginia, United States
Welcome to my blog! I am a silk painting artist - having dabbled in a number of areas of artistic expression - oil, acrylic, watercolor, pen & ink. I ventured into silk painting a couple of years ago after I took a workshop with renowned artist Olivia Batchelder of Laguna Beach, California. What a wonderful and inspirational teacher she was! Since then I have been forever hooked with anything to do with textile design/silk painting. I find the dyes that I use (French imported DuPont) are so vibrant - unlike any other medium I have ever used. I am slowing finding my "niche" in the art world and would love to inspire and make other people happy when viewing or wearing my work! I am now happy to say that my work as evolved into making designs for pattern repeats for fabric! Instead of spending hours painting a scarf I now paint and upload the painted scans to my computer and make them into a pattern. Once that is complete I upload the Jpegs to my site on Spoonflower.com and I can print all my designs many times on different types of fabric. Visit my Spoonflower site at www.spoonflower.com/profiles/luv2silkpaint Thanks for stopping by!

Holiday Shows...Jingle on the James & Collegiate Holiday Fair

I'll be exhibiting at the Jingle on the James art show at Rockett's Landing December 12th and 13th.  Right now I'm very busy painting away in my studio to shore up my dwindling inventory - a good problem to have!  Also, on December 5th, I'm exhibiting at Collegiate School's holiday art fair.  Hope to see you there!

Please feel free to email me at lauriepysz@yahoo.com for custom inquiries.

Display at Private Stock Wine Store in Richmond

I took this photo with my cell phone - not a very clear one...I revamped my display and it looks so much better.  Now people are noticing and they are selling!  Yay!
Private Stock Wine Store is located on Ridge Road in the Tuckahoe Shopping Center, next to Angela's Ristorante.  They have an immense selection of wine and cigars and accessories too!  Check it out....

My Autumn Leaves Scarf Reviewed...

I received an email from a fellow mom in Minnesota who writes a blog and reviews items for artists.  Here is her review of my square brown autumn leave scarf - she actually used it as a headband and it looks very pretty on her.

Storefront - Crossroads Art Center

Jenny at Crossroads Art Gallery has been a great promotor of my work - she recently bought one of my scarves originally for her sister as a gift at the NEW luncheon at Willow Oaks.  She wore it all day to promote my work and loved it so much that she is keeping it for herself!  It really looked great on her.

I so enjoy being in the company of such amazing artists at Crossroads.  I've sold two already!  Yay!  I tried to take a photo here with my cell phone - again why do I always forget my digital camera??  and I'm in the window!
